I emailed a couple of people Thursday (I know it was to late) about the rules at Fort Belle Fountaine and didn't get any responce so I figure I'll ask around.
I downloaded the rules and they seems a little unreasonable in my opinion.
They said an hour to unload and get your car out. That maybe OK for a one pole tent but when it comes to setting up a tipi and other large tents that will never cut it. It takes up to 2 hour just to setup an 18' lodge. You may say just dump everthing out to move the car accept we put alot of boxes, ladder and tools back in the trailer after setup.
If the entire Mystic Buffalo family came it would include 3 tipis and a 12x34 wall tent which takes some time to setup out of several vehicles which could potentially be much longer than an hour. Keep in mind we do respect others with our vehicle placement and we get out of camp as fast as possible but within reason.
I know that the grounds at the event location are narrow and that maybe the cause of the rule. But I question the number of tipi owners you would find that would deal with that restriction.
The real question is do they enforce it? Are they a pain to deal with?
As Seadog said in another thread there were no tipis there. With a time limit on setup like I have explained I don't know that you will ever get many.
Keep in mind that this is expressed from my vantage point and no other, so be nice and let me know what you think. |

| I didn't camp this year, Matt, so I can't be sure, but last year if you set up on Friday everyone left there vehicles right there until early Saturday morning. Like I said, that was last year, things could have changed. Also, I've found that the people in charge are very agreeable and friendly but I've never had any disagreements with them so I don't know how they are when their hackles are up. All in all, my experiences with them have been very pleasant. |

That's good to hear, we just didn't want to show up and have someone standing over our shoulder saying that we needed to move our cars.
I would recommend that they change the wording of the rules on the brochure then because I think alot of people would think similar as us and not want to drive any distance to see if they were going to have trouble.
We were wanting to try to go to the Fort Belle but Friday night after a long week we didn't won't to have to deal with it (if it existed). We had a place that we knew we could take our time so we decided to go there.
All in all we had a good time, maybe we will try it next year, maybe not I don't know until that time comes. |

| One of your registered members is (or at least was) involved with them. Mike Kladky was my point of contact last year and I did see him down there this year. He may be the one you could ask and find out for sure. By the way, as long as I'm on here. I've tried to send a few private messages but the intended recipients havn't been getting them. Including Sharon and yourself. You may want to check into it. |

Seadog,
Yep you found a bug alright, the system has 2 different messaging systems and I thought I had all the links changed to the one but I guess I didn't have it switched.
The reason no one replied you is that there is no direct way to get to the other system to read the messages. The only access to the other system was to send messages.
I have now corrected the issue, but the issue is that all messages sent on other system were not delivered to a viewable system and lost. You may need to resend any message that were sent via the member list.
I will make an announcement on the front page on this issue when I get a change later this evening.
Sorry for any inconvenience. |

No one will give you any trouble about set-up time. Like Seadog stated, as long as you are out by 10 a.m. Saturday, there is no problem.
I posted those rules as a guide. Sorry if they seem too much. I will change that.
Regards, Mike |
