Pioneer Journey Cake


Ingredients for Lovin' Dutch Oven Cook Book
Cream together:
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cups butter
Mix in:
2 1/4 cups apple cider.
Add:
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1/2 cup dried apples, chopped fine
Blend in:
4 1/2 cups flour



Description
Beat until batter is well mixed, then pour into prepared over and bake. When done, serve with fresh churned butter and old-fashion molasses.

Pour into cake pan and place cake pan inside dutch oven on a trivet.



Notes
Place dutch oven over a bed of hot coals, cover lid with hot coals. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes, but remember to check from time to time.
